In the new Royal Caribbean Club Casino, located in Port of Spain, the capital of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, a robust security solution was installed that combines professional video management software (VMS) and network video servers ( NVR), both from exacqVision with Illustra and American Dynamics cameras, all equipment from Tyco Security Products.
The Royal Caribbean Club Casino is a new entertainment center that required a modern surveillance solution that would allow it to protect and monitor slot machines, cashiers, players and money transactions. A hybrid system was installed, with 64 American Dynamics and Illustra brand cameras from Tyco Security Products, as well as exacqVision's professional VMS and Z-Series Hybrid Network Video Servers, to provide the most secure environment possible with video surveillance in real time.
Introduction
The newly opened Royal Caribbean Club Casino is considered a very exclusive entertainment center where only members of the club can gamble. Located in a strategic area of Port of Spain, the capital of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, this newly built facility required a surveillance system that would fit within the budget, but still provide the highest quality images and ease of use.
The primary purpose of the casino's surveillance system was to allow the security team to monitor the casino premises, while also capturing detailed images of gamblers, staff, cashiers, and games of chance. Additionally, security managers needed the ability to quickly upload video footage when anomalies were detected.
Martin Sabga, CEO of Consolidated Systems & Supplies Caribbean, the security systems integrator contracted for the project, explained that the goal of this surveillance project was to ensure a secure environment for customers and employees, in which all operations and transactions were under control at all times. In addition to supervising the casino facilities, the establishment controls the points of entry to the casino and the parking lot.
To meet these needs, Consolidated Systems & Supplies Caribbean chose a unified video surveillance solution from Tyco Security Products. With this solution, an economical hybrid system was created that combined IP and analog cameras, allowing the client to manage them through a single VMS software. In total, the installation was delivered to the customer in just three weeks. The solution
The Royal Caribbean Club Casino installed 46 IP and analog cameras from American Dynamics and 16 Illustra 3-megapixel cameras, equipment chosen for the excellent resolution images they offer. These cameras were placed on the betting tables to have a clear view of the betting chips and each one of the movements of the dealer and the bettors who are at each table. Two other 5-megapixel panoramic cameras provide visual coverage of the entire facility. Additionally, 36 analog mini-dome cameras and 8 high-speed analog dome cameras with PTZ control were installed throughout the facilities.
The IP cameras record to an exacqVision Z-Series hybrid server that can be configured to stream at any rate and can process video from up to 128 IP cameras and 48 analog cameras. exacqVision's hybrid solution was a cost-effective way to use both analog and IP cameras in the same security system. This highly reliable network video server comes with 12 enterprise-class hard drives and 24/7 service. The video server's RAID data storage system enables uninterrupted operation and video preservation. The exacqVision recorder records continuously in the event of a power supply failure thanks to its dual power supplies.
In a control room, video is displayed on four 42-inch monitors and four 26-inch manageable monitors for continuous observation of all areas of the facility. exacqVision gives the security management team the ability to easily configure the system to perform automatic viewing tours, additionally, the two operators in the control room have the option to view all cameras simultaneously or choose to view a particular camera for a more detailed observation.Likewise, the casino manager has the possibility to view live or recorded video images of the casino facilities through the exacqVision mobile application. The mobile app also allows the manager to view and respond to alarms, as well as control PTZ cameras. In turn, employees can send camera views to the manager's mobile app for the manager to immediately review and determine if any media needs to be taken.
Sabga, the systems integrator representative, also highlighted exacqVision's feature that allows the user to upload recordings with just a few clicks. This feature was important to the customer as it makes it easier to verify transactions and bets when the tables are crowded and makes sure every win is legitimate.
The result
Both the integrator and the customer, who had to work within three weeks, expressed satisfaction with the ease of installation. Another advantage of the system configuration is the way in which all its components were perfectly integrated.
“Tyco Security Products was very supportive with the installation and setup of the exacqVision Z-Series Video Recorder. The technical.support representatives connected remotely to supervise the configuration of the equipment and make recommendations on which configurations were best to achieve the best performance”, explained Sabga. Before delivering the system to the customer, the integrator conducted a training session to train casino security personnel on how to operate the system. Because the VMS solution works with point-and-click software for Windows (just point the cursor and click on the element you want to interact with), it was easy for the customer to use.
For the integrator, the main learning achieved as a result of this project has to do with the combination between analog technology and IP technology and how "easy it was to create a hybrid system, something about which we were very skeptical at first, but the close collaboration with Tyco Security Products allowed us to achieve a seamless integration” to the satisfaction of all parties.
For his part, Alexander Calito, one of the directors of the Club Royal Caribbean Casino, described the system as "very intuitive" and assured that the features of exacqVision's recorder and VMS software left "a very positive impression on the security team and casino IT management, because these functions create a completely integrated solution.”
Calito also highlighted that "the project was carried out in a very professional manner, it was executed on time and within budget." He explained that the casino plans to expand the security systems in the future to incorporate the construction of a restaurant on top of the building, an addition that will complete the entertainment center.
Lastly, Calito says the system is essential for daily monitoring of high-priority areas, visitors, and staff, and has notifications coming from the remote monitoring system should any irregular situation occur. "I would recommend Tyco Security Products to anyone who requires a complete security solution for their organization," he concluded.
