During a live test of the IntuVision VA system in a commercial building parking lot, remaining available spaces were correctly advertised in a timely manner.
Knowing where available spots are can reduce the time spent by employees driving to increase efficiency, as well as reducing traffic in the parking lot.
In addition to space monitoring, IntuVision's parking module was used to detect speed and parking violations and send email alerts to security guards when these occur.
Location Detection Available with 98% Accuracy
Thirty-five locations in the office building parking lot monitored from a single camera view over an eight-hour period were used as part of the trial success study.
Description:
In this Success case, the cameras that are viewing the parking lot were mounted on the building approximately 10 meters high looking down, covering sections of 25 – 35 parking spaces as seen in the example.
Each row and spot in the park can be uniquely tagged and the parking plan feature allows mapping of each spot to the corresponding location on the parking plan.
The API provided with IntuVision VA makes it easy to view open spaces as well as the percentage of availability based on the time of day.
With this parking utilization rate metrics can be calculated that lead to efficient use of all parking spaces.
In this case of Success, in addition to reporting the availability of spaces, the IntuVision parking module is configured to control prohibited parking zones and vehicles for speeding on the entrance roads to generate alarms for violation of these points.
High performance
To measure the performance of location availability detection, 35 points were used in a section of the lot. During the 8 hours that begin around 07:30 am, 179 vehicles parked and left, events that were observed as reality on the ground.
During this period IntuVision VA has detected 170 of these events resulting in the following Accuracy, Precision and F1-Score metrics.Results:
IntuVision VA's parking module performed with 98% accuracy in monitoring parking space availability in this success story.
In addition, the IntuVision VA parking module also detected and reported parking and speeding violations and alarmed when vehicles stopped in no parking zones or exceeded speed limits.
